Distinguishing Features: Gavin has a small scar in his left eyebrow that appears as a thin line cutting separating said brow into two pieces, and he has an assortment of tattoos. He has to keep them covered for work, but his back is an elaborate, colourful mural- and he has an intricate diagram of an ancient charm on his chest.
Dressing Style: As impossible as it may sound, Gavin dresses in a way (at least for work) that can be described as professional, yet quirky. Since it's expected of him he'll wear robes of a good cut and quality, but he likes more vibrant colours over the muted ones that other teachers wear. When he's feeling particularly cheerful he'll don some in his favourite hue, lavender. He seldom wears shoes, and never wears jewelry, but he has a certain fondness of bow ties. When not working Gavin will switch to muggle clothes- though in those he does have a taste for the flamboyant.
PERSONALITY
Personality Description: Gavin has always been a bit dotty, not crazy, but definitely a far cry from normalcy. He is generally a very quirky person, from his crippling phobias of rabbits, germs, and blood to his inexplicable obsession with prime numbers (particularly three, and especially seven). He tends to space a lot, especially when teaching, he can be going on his lesson and then suddenly wind up on a random tangent about the history of chocolate frogs, though he will usually find his train of thought again. Gavin is likely one of the happiest people one could ever meet, it takes a lot to put him in a bad mood, and is usually quietly happy.
He is easily startled, easily impressed, and very easily distracted- making him to be a generally expressive and emotional person. Gavin has a seemingly impenetrable self-esteem, ever after years of being singled out as the weird kid he still has a strong, yet not inflated, sense of self-worth, and is content with who he is for the most part. Socially, Gavin isn't suave, but he's not at all awkward. He has no problem making conversation, and is renowned for his undeniable compassion, he'd give the shirt off his back and then some for someone who really needs it. Just don't touch him. He's funny about that.

History: Freya and Roger were about as compatible as fire and ice- Freya was a free-spirited muggle who lived in a traveling commune, while Roger was a stern wizard businessman with something of a tycoon under his command. Nevertheless, a fateful night their paths crossed, which resulted in Gavin being born nine months later. He was raised in the commune by his mother, and never even met his father. He was encouraged to grow in whatever way felt right to him, nudged to pursue creative activities and allow his spirit to run free. Gavin was a curious child, never getting into trouble, but always having his nose in other people's business, trying to figure out what was going on around him.
In his youth he played with the other children and helped around the commune. He never went to school, though his mother taught him on her own. When he was six his younger half-sister Chloe was born. Gavin took to being a big brother immediately, and immediately became inseparable from his sister. It was also around this time that he began experiencing odd things- not only did strange things happen when he got angry or scared, but he began having vivid dreams, sometimes when he wasn't even asleep. Gavin's mother encouraged him to look into these dreams, convinced they meant something, and oftentimes they did- being things of precognition.
When he turned eleven, the strange things were finally explained in the form of a man in a cloak, telling him and his mother about magic, and that he was accepted to a school called Hogwarts. Thrilled and delighted, Gavin was on the train that September. He was sorted into Hufflepuff upon arrival, and instantly he began to feel out of place. He wasn't used to the rigidity of a formal schedule or receiving grades based on things being correct or incorrect, rather than his own personal thoughts and feelings. It was a difficult transition to say the least, and the dreams didn't make things easier. They only became more frequent and intense as he got older, and they began interfering with his ability to function.
In his third year following a collapse midway through a potions class, it was finally identified that he was a Seer. The Divination Professor immediately demanded that Gavin be placed in her class, and without much resistance he dropped Muggle Studies from his curriculum and pursued the, what he now knew to be, visions. Under the wing of who would become his favourite teacher, Gavin learned both to control and to interpret his visions, and by the time he reached sixth year was about on par with average students, though he still performed poorly in rigid subjects such as history, transfiguration, and potions. His remaining time at school passed uneventfully, unless one is to count the time he got caught attempting to cultivate marijuana in one of the school greenhouses.
Once finished with school, Gavin returned to the commune and lived there full-time, though he continued to study Divination, publishing works on the subject, and hoping to one day gain full mastery of his abilities. It was also this time that he discovered his sexual fluidity, finding that he was equally attracted to both men and women. Gavin allowed himself to indulge in both, and had a number of casual partners, but never a serious, committed relationship. He passed uneventfully through his twenties, though was recently hit hard with bad news. Gavin Saw the death of his favourite teacher two weeks in advance, and was still in mourning when he was approached to take her position. Knowing that she would want a real Seer in the post, Gavin agreed, and upon arrival at the school was also put in the position of Head of his old house. Gavin is now prepared to begin his first semester teaching, and is optimistic about what the year will bring.
