It was not an uncommon thing for Charlotte to be down at the pitch, even when there wasn't practice scheduled for the team. She liked to dedicate time to perfecting her technique, even though she was arguably quite skilled. It seemed that she had gotten her father's seeking abilities, but she always knew that she could push herself just a bit further, go just a bit harder, be just a bit better. It might not be healthy, but for Charlotte, her best was never good enough. There was always room for improvement, one-hundred percent was not the limit. So here Charlotte was, dusk rapidly approaching, hovering over the pitch, looking for the snitch.
This would be her last capture, soon it would get too dark to see the small golden ball properly, and she didn't want to risk losing it. Perhaps after this she could switch to golf balls, they were easy enough to bewitch into flying in the same nonsensical pattern. Her head pounded as she flew around a little, eyes peeled for any flash of gold, she knew it was just because she was hungry, but she was denying it. Charlotte had decided the previous year that she was going to decide for herself when she ate, not her stomach. She didn't want to cave to her weakness, not when she still had a ways to go in her pursuit of perfection.
But Charlotte knew she would reach it, she wouldn't allow herself to, otherwise. Just like her captures could always be faster, her body could always be thinner. Slim down her arms and thighs, tone her stomach... Once she got to her goal, she would be beautiful. And Charlotte did have to admit, with the weight she had lost over the past year it did make a difference on the pitch- seekers needed to be lightweight and skinny, the less one weighed the faster they could fly. Already petite, she was gaining more of an edge.
Though all the same, her head did hurt- she'd skipped lunch, and was now down here working when the rest of the castle was enjoying supper. She'd have something afterwards, a salad, perhaps a small portion of fish or chicken, as a reward for a hard day's work, but not until she was satisfied with the effort she had put in. Not until she had taken another step toward perfection. And there it was! Charlotte locked her gaze on the snitch, fluttering about at the base of one of the goal posts, and she dove. The wind stung her eyes (but she didn't dare close them) and whipped her ponytail, but she was focused...
Charlotte tore around the pitch after the fluttering wings, and not but a minute after her initial dive had the golden snitch clamped in her hand. She brought her broom to a stop, a small smile gracing her lips as she looked at the struggling ball in her hand. It seemed to sense her want to continue, though Charlotte knew with daylight waning it would be stupid to release the snitch again, if it got too dark she'd never find it. A problem which could be remedied with a summoning spell, if the snitch weren't enchanted against their use. It did prevent cheating come game day, though all the same for practice purposes it was annoying.
Charlotte allowed herself to lose altitude until she was close enough to the ground to dismount, she landed lightly on her feet beside the crate where she tucked away the still struggling snitch. Once Charlotte placed it in its cubby, however, it again fell inanimate. She reached for one of the golf balls in the bottom of the crate, though just before she was about to enchant it, noticed a figure not too far away at the entrance to the locker room. Charlotte frowned, she had thought she would be alone, at least for another few hours...

Bored and restless, that's how he felt right now. Bored with schoolwork, the mindless chatter of his friends, the incessant yammering of the sixth year girls down his ear in the common room. He was pretty much bored with it all, it was the same old same old, day in and day out and it was mind numbing. The frustrating thing was it never ended, there was always something happening around him, he was never alone. On the one hand having so many friends was a good thing, if friends is what they were, yet on the other, it meant he was constantly in the company of someone and more often than not...idiots.
Not that he didn't love being the center of attention most of the time he did truly. He liked that everyone knew him, and either feared or respected him even begrudgingly. The Malfoy name commanded it though it had taken a lot of hard work from his Father to better the name Malfoy once more after the Second War. Things were better now but Tobias was building a life away from the name, doing what he could to step out of it's suffocating weight. Did he like the attention it got him, maybe a little but still he hated all the expectations being put upon him simply because he was a Malfoy.
He was meant to act certain ways, carry certain beliefs, only talk to certain people. It also meant he got away with a hell of a lot more than most which was always good. He was the Slytherin bad boy, a title which he reveled in. He was never short of ladies to spend time with if he wanted, if someone wanted a good time then they'd turn to him. He threw some of the best parties this school had seen, going as far as to find some of the best spots on the grounds to have the illegal gatherings. Booze, music, drugs, dancing, magic, anything they weren't meant to do in school as well as out he did.
Tonight though was set to be a quiet one, he had no interest in wasting his time studying any longer. Besides he knew most of the stuff anyway, he didn't need to study it again, and the girls were annoying so he wasn't in the mood for killing some time with them. That left Quidditch. It was nearing dark and he liked the freedom of the pitch when there was no one else around. Not that he needed the practice, just the opposite but it always helped loosen him up so why not spend some time doing just that.
Sadly though, upon arriving at the pitch he found he wasn't alone. There was already some loser flying around chasing what he assumed was the snitch. Leaning against the locker room door, he crossed his arms over his broad chest, his eyes narrowing as the figure drew closer to the ground and he smirked. Yes, he'd know that hair anywhere and the style in which she flew. It had to be Charlotte Potter. The girl he loved to irritate. Always thinking she was better than him since she stole the title of Captain even though he happened to be miles better than her on a broom.
"Good thing your gettin' in the practice Potter, last thing we need is you failing the team this year..." he called out to her as he pushed away from the locker room door, taking slow deliberate steps towards her. It was true, he'd come down here to blow off steam, simply fly but pushing Potter's buttons was always fun. Potters and Weasley's he hated the lot of them...all thinking they were something else just because of what their parents did in the war. Pathetic, that's what they were.

Charlotte crinkled her nose, of all people to show up, of course it had to be none other than Tobias Malfoy- a fellow Slytherin and the most swaggering, egotistical idiot she had had the displeasure of meeting. He was a handsome devil, but his personality was so irksome that she couldn't stand him. She was already disgruntled that he was here, she already knew all he was going to do was purposefully try and drive her crazy. It was bad enough that she had to deal with him during practice, but now, too? He was the last person she wanted to see. Especially with the way her head was throbbing.
She bit down on her tongue, folding her arms, wand in one hand, golf ball in the other, her posture clearly displaying her irritation. As he began to close the gap between them, she drew herself up to her full height, as if it made any difference, he had about a foot on her. Though Charlotte wasn't intimidated by his size, she knew that she would be more than capable of taking him out if she had to. He might not be stupid in the conventional sense, but she liked to think she was a good deal more quick-witted than he was, and could hand his ass to him in a duel.
Charlotte continued to crinkle her nose- Tobias knew that she detested him, and she wasn't afraid of showing it. If he weren't the best damn chaser that she had on the team, she might have kicked him off because she was that unwilling to deal with them. Though as much as she hated to admit it, the rest of the team could learn a thing or two from him, he was a good flier. But Charlotte wasn't going to do that, he didn't need any help making his already enormous head any bigger.
And then he opened his mouth. Already intolerable, Charlotte was suddenly overcome with the urge to hit him. She amused herself for all of two seconds with the resulting mental image, though he was grating on her soul, effectively clearing up her fantasy. Though she did still want to give him a good punch in the mouth, if she were capable of reaching it from her height, it might at least knock down his ego a peg or two. And honestly, anything that might make him shut up for a few minutes would be lovely, every syllable past his well-formed, yet vile, lips, made her head pound even more.
And then what he said... If it were possible to push every last one of her buttons in a single sentence, that was the right one to do just that. Charlotte didn't need any help doubting her abilities, and she tended to get prickly when people poked fun at her. Particularly the annoying Malfoy boy. He grated on her nerves anyway, but when it came to criticism... If she had better self-esteem she might be able to tell herself that he was simply trying to tear it down, but she found it hard not to take it personally.
She tightened her arms across her chest- though if her hands weren't occupied she might be gripping her throbbing temples. Stupid body and its need for food... Or maybe she just needed some water, that didn't take any calories... "Piss off Malfoy," Charlotte said grudgingly, "haven't you someone else to grace with your nauseating presence?" It was awfully brave of her to say, but she wasn't at all intimidated by Tobias. She would stand her ground, unless he pushed too many buttons and then she might blow up at him, which was quite tempting. Especially now that she was in the position to make his life hell, at least during Quidditch practice. She had the power, now.

It was clear from the moment she clocked eyes on him that already his appearence was p*ssing her off. For some reason he got a kick out of that, there was nothing as satisfying as knowing he annoyed her so much, almost as much as the mere sight of her annoyed him. They'd never gotten along and he really didn't see a time they would, didn't want to see a time they would. He couldn't stand the Potters and Charlotte was one of the more annoying ones. Potters and Weasley's, they were like parasites...spread out all over the school.
Though right now in front of him, stood Saint Potters daughter always thinking she was above the rest of them because her Dad was the one to kill the Dark Lord. Whilst he wasn't proud over his own families part in the war he still despised the Potters and how everyone seemed to view them, like practically Royalty throughout the wizarding world. In all honesty it was kind of pathetic.
Truth was maybe there was a little bitterness there and jealously, after all despite all their faults the Weasley's and Potter's were incredibly close, annoyingly so wheras as his family...he truly didn't like being around them. Everything he did was to spite his Father, to stick a middle finger up to the expectations they'd put upon him. Did he like the respect the name earned him? Of course he did he just thought it was bull to have so much expected from him. Though if he didn't want to lose his inheritence he really needed to work on finding a way to keep his Dad happy.
Charlotte crinkled her nose as she looked at him and he smirked wickedly, satisfied and beyond happy she was annoyed. Sure he'd wanted a break from people for the night but Charlotte...no, he always got a kick out of pushing her buttons. With his broom over his shoulder he strolled towards her, not even letting the dirty looks or hostile stance bother him. He was used to it, he liked it, it was familiar, fun and probably the distraction he needed right now.
"Piss off Malfoy, haven't you someone else to grace with your nauseating presence?"
Arching his eyebrow at her he laughed before coming to a stop out of arms reach of her. "Language Potter, you kiss Mummy Dearest with that mouth?" he asked, looking her p and down. There was no denying she was pretty, those eyes that looked at him with such hostility and those lips...still she wasn't his type, she was far too complicated. "People were p*ssing me off...Besides I saw you here and I do so enjoy these little moments between us..." he teased, laughing and shaking his head.

Sensing that she wasn't going to get anywhere, or rather, Tobias' presence wasn't going to allow her to, Charlotte dropped the golf ball back into the crate, though she kept her hand curled around the handle of her wand and returned to folding her arms and standing stiffly- she was not going to have a posture that would indicate any sort of weakness around the Malfoy boy. Or, really, anyone at all for that matter. No one need know how critically she looked upon herself, how all she saw was excess flesh and problem areas when she looked in the mirror, saw only her negative qualities.
Never mind that she was top of the class in Transfiguration as well as Potions, no, she could only see her barely passing grade in Charms and her one point away from failing mark in Herbology... Charlotte couldn't help it, she was terrible with plants, yet she hadn't been able to drop the subject at the beginning of her NEWT years. That would mean rethinking her entire plan for when she left school. Charlotte had narrowed her career choices down to following in her father's footsteps and becoming an Auror, or going into healing with a specialty for potions and poisons- both of which she needed Herbology for. So she was stuck with a subject that she not only wasn't very good at, but hated.
A small sacrifice to make, though she did at least get to drop History, which she found exceedingly dull, Astronomy, which she had decided was mostly useless, and she'd also dropped Muggle Studies and Ancient Runes. With those subjects no longer in her schedule, Charlotte had a few more free periods than she was used to. Though she had begun to dedicate them to working out- going for a run, coming down to the pitch, or otherwise turning the Room of Requirement into her own personal gym. Those times were definitely nice.
Though now, however, was not. Charlotte remained stonily silent at Tobias' comment about her language, who was he to tell her what to do? He just thought he was so great because of his family's money. Really Charlotte just thought he was an arse who got away with more than he should. Regardless of how handsome he was, he needed someone to put him in his place, someone to tell him "no," bruise his ego a little. Charlotte, of course, was more than willing to fill that position if he ever gave her reason to.
"That makes you the only one," Charlotte said icily. She subconsciously took half a step backward, she didn't want to be that close to him, not unless she was going to have the opportunity to hit him. She just wished he weren't so well-built, it would make him easier to hate outright if he had a face as weaselly as his personality.

Really this was beyond amusing in Tobias's eyes, Charlotte really did hate him, not that he cared but still, it was amusing nevertheless. He was always guranteed some entertainment around this girl considering how much she did despite him and vice versa, though his was more the fact he got a kick out of her hating him so much. She was probably the only girl in school he knew despised him so much, the rest were easy to win over. A few kinds words, flash of a smile and a few lies and they were all but putty in his hand. Charlotte though, never.
He really couldn't shake the smirk from his face around her tonight. There was no denying she was gorgeous, with a temper to boot. A fiery one definitely but not someone he'd ever go with, purely because of who she was. It was the principle of the whole Potter, Malfoy rivalry, they had to hate each other. Not that he minded, fighting with her was fun and she was definitely a challenge and fun as hell when p*ssed off. Out of everyone he fought with over the years she was by far the most entertaining in his eyes.
"That makes you the only one,"
Tobias shot her a look of mock outrage, pretending for a moment her words had hurt him, before chuckling and shaking his head, not missing as she took a step back away from him. "Oh beautiful there you go hurting my feelings again." he said sighing in disappointment before shrugging his shoulders. Reaching his other hand back to rest on the handle of his broom he took a step, moving to his left, maintaining his distance from her but moving more to her right, his eyes glancing around the field briefly before refocusing on her. "You know...most kids come down here for a little fool around..." he said, wiggling his eyebrows at her, laughing as he did so.

Charlotte began lightly chewing on her tongue, she wished the pounding in her head would go away. Ideally, it would be Tobias going away- she would put up with having a constant headache for the rest of her life if it meant not having to interact with him again, regardless of how attractive he was, and the fantasies that sometimes entered her brain. To Charlotte they really were guilty pleasures, the naughty thoughts. If the talk around the halls was true, Malfoy, while an insufferable prick, was a good lay, and with his features... But his personality was so grating, it was a wonder anyone could put up with him, no matter how good he was in bed.
So, of course, she didn't tell a soul about these particular thoughts, simply... Enjoyed them in private. Finally lapsing a bit in her stance, Charlotte raised her free hand to her temple, massaging it slightly, as if it would make the insistent pounding go away. At least she hadn't gotten dizzy yet, those times were a bit more difficult to manage- and the last thing she wanted was to pass out when Tobias was the only other person around. The headache was annoying, but it wasn't going to cause any sort of problems, at least not to that degree. Charlotte rolled her eyes visibly when he claimed she had hurt his feelings.
She knew full well he was enjoying this a lot more than she was, sometimes it seemed that he lived to make her life hell. Though all the same he had called her "beautiful," which did give the smallest of nudges to her collapsed ego. A compliment was still a compliment, even if the person it came from was thoroughly detestable. "If by that you mean you here alone for a wank then I don't doubt it," Charlotte said peevishly. Always quick on the draw she was, it seemed she was never without something to say in retort, especially when the person she was snapping at was Tobias. Her competitive nature took over in that regard, she wanted to beat him at his own game.

Tobias didn't miss how she began to rub her temple, massaging it lightly letting him know without saying anything that she had some kind of headache. He didn't care of course but still it was worth noting, he knew if her head was hurting she was going to have a shorter temper than usual. Now he could continue to push her as much as he wanted and maybe have her explode and try and curse him into next week, or he could dial it back a little. Take a step back and leave her for the night...but his response to that was, where the hell was the fun in doing that?
This is what they did, they sparred, the fought, bickered, threw curses sometimes. They were never going to be friends, so did he care if he annoyed her? Not at all in fact it gave him the strange amount of satisfaction. For some reason the fact he annoyed her, made him happier than it would do with anyone else. Maybe it had something to do with the fact she was a Potter, or maybe it was simply down to the fact she was a worthy adversory. Charlotte gave as good as she got, she was quick witted and didn't back down from him like most others would and he found that somewhat...attractive? That couldn't be right could it?
"If by that you mean you here alone for a wank then I don't doubt it,"
That made him laugh, shaking his head as she wagged his finger at the pretty girl in front of him. Exactly what he'd just been saying...she was quick on the draw. He really did like that. "What a gutter brain you have gorgeous." he chuckled, shaking his head as he brought the broom down off his shoulders. Tilting his head to the side he narrowed his eyes on her, a slight smirk on his face, "How about it, wanna fool around...work out some of that pent up frustration you've obviously got bottled up inside....they do say anger sex is the best kind..." he teased, wondering if that would get a rise out of her too.

Charlotte chewed on her tongue a bit, now wondering what she was going to do with herself- Tobias was cutting into her training time. Less training time meant she was going to burn fewer calories, and the idea of that was annoying in and of itself. She couldn't afford to get into that sort of habit, otherwise she might gain something back, and she felt that she had weight enough, and could easily do with losing a bit more. Malfoy here was ruining her schedule, which meant that she was going to have to pay for it tomorrow. That meant either halving her allotted calories, or doubling up on training, neither of which were particularly appealing, but it'd be necessary if she were to stay on track.
Knowing that she wasn't going to get anything else done, Charlotte nudged the crate of Quidditch balls closed with her foot, though she didn't bend to do up the clasps, she didn't want to present Tobias with an opportunity to comment on her arse, and knowing how he was, he likely would. Not that her mind was saintly, she simply had the mind to not voice more inappropriate things aloud. Malfoy, it seemed, lacked that filter. Or any sort of filter whatsoever.
"Likely a great deal cleaner than yours," Charlotte grumbled, now out of patience, she just wanted to be left alone to get something to drink, maybe a small thing to eat. She crinkled her nose again at his next words, really, he was disgusting, though a part of her wanted to take him up on the (likely joking) offer. She wanted to see if the rumours were true, he really was good to look at, he could probably show her a good time... Charlotte shoved those thoughts away, they surprised even herself, normally she wasn't like that, she was even still a virgin.
She wasn't attached to the particular quality, but she didn't want to lose it with just anyone, either. "Has that tactic honestly ever worked?" said Charlotte, cocking an eyebrow, paused, though didn't wait for him to reply, "you know, you're likely one of the most vile creatures I've had the displeasure of meeting, it'd take more firewhiskey than you could smuggle in for that to happen."

"Likely a great deal cleaner than yours,"
Tobias smirked and shrugged lightly in response, the look on his face clearly saying he agreed with her on that, he didn't have the cleanest of minds. He was after all a teenage boy above all things so it was normal right? Well even if it wasn't he enjoyed himself and his not so private thoughts so there was no way he was going to change anytime soon, what was the point? He was who he was and he loved who he was. Most girls seemed to like it, with the exception being Charlotte and the rest of the stuck up prudes at this school, his friends definteily enjoyed his sense of humor, encouraged it most days.
His prescence was certainly beginning to annoy Charlotte though, he could not only see it but also sense it, her impatience rolling off her in waves. Being in her prescence was no picnic either, so she wasn't the only one who had the right to complain. Again there was no denying there'd been a few x-rated images burned into his mind, involving both him and this snarky beauty in front of him. When they fought he couldn't deny he felt that spark of attraction that desire to take things into uncharted territory but he resisted, she was a Potter and he was a Malfoy, no matter how fun it seemed in his head they couldn't risk doing something like that. Knowing the prude Charlotte was though she wouldn't go for it, come to think of it he doubted she'd been with anyone before.
"Has that tactic honestly ever worked...you know, you're likely one of the most vile creatures I've had the displeasure of meeting, it'd take more firewhiskey than you could smuggle in for that to happen."
She didn't even pause to let him reply to her first question, so when she finally paused long enough he laughed before nodding his head. "Believe it or not gorgeous it has...hate sex...hot..."
[/color] he said, knowing now he was annoying her, but it wasn't like he was lying. Hatred fueled sex always seemed the most intense and passionate, followed quickly by angry sex. Looking at her he smirked, "Sounds like a challenge hot stuff." he said, muttering a spell and quickly conjuring a bottle of fire-whiskey and two glasses, all set out on top of the trunk. Not sparing thm a look though he remained fixated on Charlotte already anticipating her storming off, he would expect nothing else from her. [/size][/justify][/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Charlotte found herself utterly torn, the thoughts in her head split down the middle. In that moment she would have dearly loved to have thrown a hex at him, but he looked so damn good, and although his cockiness was annoying, the confidence was a little hard to resist. Charlotte found she really did admire confidence in a man, or really anyone for that matter, given how very little she had herself. All hers was false, people didn't seem to be able to notice the difference, but Charlotte could most definitely feel it. She was just glad that it was something easily faked. No one need know how much she struggled.
Charlotte again rolled her eyes when Tobias insisted that his method of picking up girls had worked before. She had a hard time believing that, were girls around here really that easy? She liked to think that the swaggering idiot in front of her had been rejected more than a time or two, probably more than he would ever let on. Though the evening seemed to take a bit of an unexpected turn when he took out his wand and summoned a bottle of firewhiskey and a pair of glasses to the pitch, settling them on the crate as a makeshift table.
It sounded like a challenge? Well, perhaps it might have been... No, no it wasn't. He was absolutely vile, she wanted nothing to do with him other than the occasional impure thoughts. It wasn't like she would ever actually act on her impulses. At least she didn't think that she would. Against her better judgement, Charlotte gave only an incredulous look at Tobias before hesitantly picking up the bottle of firewhiskey and pulling out the stopper. Silencing her thoughts, she filled only one of the glasses, and picked it up before draining half in one go.
It burned her throat, and her head pounded again, this likely wasn't the wisest decision. She hadn't eaten much all day, and putting alcohol in an empty stomach meant it was going to go straight to her head. But perhaps she might want it to. Just perhaps. Charlotte surveyed the half-drunk glass in her hand, waiting for the first few swallows to settle in her stomach. This definitely wasn't a good idea, but at this point, she was beyond caring. Nothing wrong with a couple of drinks, right?
She tossed back the rest of her glass before looking at Tobias. She squinted a bit, as if in thought, before relaxing her expression. "Nope, still the most despicable person in school," said Charlotte, smirking before refilling her glass. She paused, and then poured into the second glass. "Go on, then, unless you're afraid of being drunk under the table."

As he watched her he couldn't fight the smirk. Already he was waiting for the slap, or even the hex she was bound to throw his way. There was no way she was going to let him get away with talking the way he was, there was no way she was going to drink the Firewhiskey he'd conjured, not Charlotte Potter. He highly douubted this was the kind of girl who knew how to have fun, shame really considering how pretty she was, he doubted she was short of male attention but she seemed obsessively fixated on practicing for Quiddditch...did she have a life or even friends outside the sport?
When she reached for the bottle of firewhiskey, pulling out the stopper before filling one of the two glasses and then to his surprise...she drained the entire glass, all in one single go. Laughing, half out of surprise and the rest out of amusement before clapping his hands together and nodding, definitely impressed. Most girls couldn't handle how strong firewhiskey was and he'd definitely counted Charlotte as being one of them, yet here she was surprising him...he liked it...it wasn't often that happened.
"Nope, still the most despicable person in school," said Charlotte, smirking before refilling her glass...Go on, then, unless you're afraid of being drunk under the table."
She tossed the rest of the glass back, filled it up again, filled one up for him and he laughed again. Taking the glass she'd filled for him and not flinching as he threw it back in one quick go, tilting the glass at her before refilling it again, "You got no hopes beautiful...slight thing like you...doubt you're the kind of girl who can handle the hard stuff...this should definitely be fun."[/green] he chuckled, winking once at her.

Charlotte really wasn't sure what she was getting at, tempting fate the way she was. She was supposed to hate Tobias, well, really, she did. He was arrogant, cruel, and generally speaking despicable. Really, he was nothing but trouble. And while hardly a good girl, she wasn't at all of the same caliber of rule-breaker that he was. The most Charlotte ever did was break curfew to go running or up to the Room of Requirement to workout if the weather wasn't agreeable outdoors. Other than that, nothing serious enough to even warrant a detention. She behaved in class, did her homework, and only got into fights with peers who deserved them.
Usually, it was Tobias that she fought with, but she didn't back down when provoked, regardless of who was pushing her buttons. It didn't take much encouragement for Tobias to join her in drinking, quickly saying that it was a very unlikely event for her to out-drink him. Charlotte, of course, knew that, she would have little hope of staying sober for long with hard liquor and an empty stomach. That and she knew her tolerance to not be terribly high, through trial-and-error she had learned when to cut herself off so she didn't do anything too embarrassing. So essentially she had merely given an empty threat.
And he had called her "slight." That was never a word Charlotte would use to describe herself, and she could feel another one of those small nudges to her non-existent self esteem. Or maybe it was the firewhiskey talking. "Yes, I've always defined 'fun' as getting drunk off my arse with the most swaggering idiot in school," Charlotte said sarcastically, rolling her eyes at his wink. Was she really doing this? Sip. Did she even want to? Sip. Funnily, she didn't care. And with another sip she was on to round three.
