Gabriella pushed the door to Zonko's wide open and walked into the large store. She breathed in deeply and walked over to the backroom where she grabbed the aprons they were supposed to wear and wandered over to her cash register. She glanced around the store. There was a small crowd, but nowhere near the amount of people that there was on Hogsmeade weekends.

Emily cursed under her breath, she had burned herself on melted sugar again. If it weren't for the fact that a small child was in the shop with his mother, she would have cursed a lot louder. Burning yourself on sugar was the worst, it fused to your skin, making it more painful. Emily ran her fingers under cold water from the sink just as the boy and his mum were leaving with a package of caramel corn. The door opened and Emily looked up to see...

Gabriella, who was now done with her shift. She had rung up a whole bunch of customers and then ran around the store, re-stocking shelves and assisting more customers. She was a bit tired now. Gabriella glanced at the back of Honeyduke's, and saw her sister. She gave her a smile. "Hey Em," Gabriella said.

"Hey Gabs," Emily said, using her good hand to turn off the faucet. She examined her fingers, they were definitely first-degree burned now. Whatever, it was nothing out of the ordinary for her. She didn't even feel the pain anymore. "Told you I'd burn myself." Emily said with a smile.

Gabriella gasped at the burns on her sister's fingers. "Emily!" she exclaimed, coming towards her sister and pulling out her wand. She performed a healing spell and the burns on Emily's fingers patched themselves up a bit. "You burnt yourself again?" she asked.

"Yeah," said Emily, looking at her sister strangely. She was being completely over reactive to the situation, it was just a couple of third degree burns, it wasn't like she had accidentally removed her head from her shoulders. "Gosh, you're acting just like Mum, it's just a few burns, I get them all the time." Emily said.

Gabriella sighed. "Fine, whatever," she replied. "But those ones do look pretty bad, so don't blame me for over-reacting. Anyone that cared about you would." Gabriella glanced around the shop, smelling the candy. "Candy canes today, huh?" she asked with a smile.

"Yeah," said Emily, looking around to make sure no little kids were in the shop. "The damned things, they're so hard to make. And the boss says all candy has to be made by hand, except for the enchanted ones, like chocolate frogs and levitating sherbet balls."

Gabriella grimaced a bit. Of course the manager of Honeyduke's would say something like that. "Well, at least it makes the candy taste better," Gabriella said with a small smile. "So how do you make the chocolate frogs and levitating sherbert balls?"

"Very minimal work," said Emily, pulling out her wand and slipping behind the candy-counter. She used her wand to make the chocolate and form it into frog shapes before it cooled too much. "Now, it's just regular chocolate, nothing special, doesn't move or anything." Emily said. She non-verbally performed the spell that brought them to life, it was a unique spell, she wasn't allowed to share it with anyone. They woke up and began to move. Emily caught them in a box, she would wrap them later. "Sherbet balls are even easier, just stick a levitating charm on the lot." Emily explained.

Gabriella smiled at the charm-work, Honeyduke's really had their candy spells down, it was quite impressive. "Well, that certainly looks easier than making candy-canes," Gabriella commented, with a sly grin. Gabriella briefly wondered where all the cards in the chocolate frogs came from, but she supposed they were shipped from somewhere else to but put in the boxes.

"Oh, much easier than those things." said Emily. She had rather lost her liking for candy-canes since she began making them, she hated them with a strong passion now. Damn peppermint-flavored sticks. She burned herself twice as often on those. She considered quitting, but Emily needed the money.

Gabriella smiled a bit, forcing herself not to grimace. Emily probably should quit and take a different job, but Gabriella wasn't about to say anything. Perhaps her sister liked being a candy-maker, Gabriella didn't know for sure. "So, is it time for your break?" Gabriella asked.

Emily wiped her wet hands off on her apron, leaving long wet streaks on the green cloth. She examined the clock, then her huge pile of candy-canes, she just needed to do one more batch of those, then two more batches of gumdrops. She could go on break now she supposed. "Yeah," said Emily, slipping off her apron, she then hung it up in place of her cloak.

"Great!" Gabriella replied with a warm smile as she escorted her sister out of Honeyduke's. "Shall we go get something to eat?" Gabriella suggested, remembering the money in her pocket that had been part of her most recent pay-check.
